Hickory Bark is a traditional folk craft weaving material used for weaving the seats of chairs. Bark is harvested during a short spring season when the sap of the trees is running and the tree is building its earlywood growth ring.

Our bark is machine processed making its width and thickness very consistent. Our bark is +/- 3/4" wide and 100 thousandths thick. It is ready to weave and does not requier additional shaving.

Our bark is sold in bundles of 125'-135' (enough for the average side chair) with pieces ranging from 4'-20' long

When our bark is harvested it is machined to 200 thousandths thick and then split into a inner weaver we call the 1st cut and an outer weaver we call the 2nd cut. The 1st cut takes on a slight convex profile as it dries and the 2nd cut takes on a slight convex profile. both are of similar quality otherwise.

Bark is a natural material and there will be imperfections in the material.
